A Call for Action: Legalize Lawn Jarts

Just look at that picture. "Missile Game." It just warms me up thinking about playing our national pastime in the summer heat when it is cold as fuck outside right now. I'm aware some our younger readers might know what the hell I'm talking about, but I assure you that you will fall in love with this game by the end this blog.

First things first, what is Jarts? So, essentially it's a game like cornhole or horseshoes. You toss the jarts across the court (your lawn or any surface where the jarts will sick in the ground) and try in to put them in little plastic rings that you put down. Very simple and easy but so satisfying when you get a ringer. A jart is pretty much a giant dart with metal tips.

I guess you could see why the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission banned the production of this remarkable game in 1988 when the jart-related injuries started to pile up, but come on, they all involved kids with parents that obviously didn't care about their children's well-being. These injuries could've been easily prevented. Now, toy companies today do make different version's of jarts without the metal tips, which is actually extremely disrespectful to the game of all games. They are not fun all are they do not fly as well. We need to get jarts back in circulation.

"Locy, these jarts you speak about sure do seem dangerous," is what you're saying right now.

This game is for adults, which people didn't seem to get when they saw the giant metal tips with wings on them. But, in my personal experience this game is 100% safe for kids when played under adult supervision. In my 10 years of playing jarts, I have never gotten hurt once.

"Why not just play cornhole or something like that?"

Cornhole is so boring. First off, you play with beanbags. What's sounds more fun guys, giant darts or beanbags. Ya, that's what I thought. Secondly, there is nothing like tossing a nice jart with some weight in it, and then watching its parabolic trajectory towards the ring. And the sound it makes when it hits the ground, "clack." Oh my, I might have to try and play in the snow right now, I'm hungry for some jarts. You can gamble with your buddies too, if you so please. This game amazes me as it is a game unlike any other, and it's shame toy companies cannot mass produce this so the whole country can have a little fun at the lake house.

We are marching to Washington D.C. on this one guys. The fact that it is harder for me to buy Lawn Jarts than it is to buy a HAND GUN is absolutely ridiculous. Sign the petition below so that a whole generation will not go jart-less. The CPSC must hear our voice! Now, it is still legal to own and play jarts, so if you don't have a jart set laying around in the attic, don't fret. It is legal to purchase jart sets from garage sales, estate sales, and stuff like that. So, keep your ear to the beat and be on the lookout if want to experience the joy that this game gives people.
