NBA Christmas Games

Image
Merry Christmas to everyone out there reading this blog! I'm here to give you all the picks that'll earn your gift spending money right back (All times labeled below are EST) Game 1 at 12 PM: Milwaukee Bucks (-10, -550) @ New York Knicks (+10, +375) O/U 227.0 I understand that New York is a huge market and MSG is beautiful, but the fact that the Knicks play on Christmas is a slap in the face of every NBA lover. Milwaukee has a top 10 defense and the Knicks have a bottom 5 offense, so look for a low scoring game to start the day.       Official pick: Under 227 Game 2 at 3PM: Oklahoma City Thunder (+1.5, Even) @ Houston Rockets (-1.5, -120) O/U 220 With the combination of no CP3 for the Rockets plus the way Paul George has been playing for the Thunder, I like OKC here to pull off the road upset.       Official pick: OKC ml Game 3 at 5.30PM: Philadelphia 76ers (+4, +155) @ Boston Celtics (-4, -175) O/U 223 This should be one of the more entertaining games today. The Game of Games

Image
Over the weekend I was fortunate to come across the game of games, and were not taking darts nor Edward 40 hands. We're talking about mouse trap roulette. This post's purpose is to give this game the recognition it deserves, and make it mainstream. In the video above, the two gentlemen wearing the "beard lives matter" shirts have created the most electric game of all time.  All you need to play the game is 7 mouse traps, some sort of spinning platform (such as a lazy Susan) and a cardboard box.  There are 7 rounds in the game, the first round one trap is hot and 6 are cold, second round 2 are hot and so on... The winner is whoever gets their fingers destroyed less times.  I love this game and want more mouse trap roulette.

UFC 231 Preview

Image
It's hard to not be entertained by one of the most violent sports American television has to offer. UFC 231 is tomorrow night, and even though I fucking hate pay-per-view, as soon as the punches are flying all cares go out the window. Let's start with the welterweight bout. Alex Oliveira vs Gunnar Nelson. Nelson is -140 in the bout.  I'm with Vegas on this one, I like Nelson over Oliveira. The fact that Oliveira's nickname is "cowboy" is enough to not have to worry about this under dog. The featherweight bout is Hakeem Dawodu vs Kyle Bockniak. I read a report that Bockniak may try to grapple, and lord knows that you never bet against a grappler. In this one I like the underdog, take Dawodu +150. Next up we got the light heavyweight bout. Jimi Manuwa vs Thiago Santos. Manuwa is getting +180 compared to Santos' -220. I LOVE Manuwa here. I think this may be the lock of the night. Hammer Manuwa +180. To be completely honest,

What to Expect from the XFL and AAF

Image
Today, the new XFL announced the eight cities that will have an inaugural team when the they launch in 2020. They chose LA, NYC, Dallas, Houston, Washington D.C., St. Louis, Tampa Bay, and Seattle for their new team locations. This got me thinking, could pro football leagues like the XFL or the Alliance of American Football, which is set to start up this February, ever compete with the NFL? The last league to broker a deal to merge with the NFL, and the only league, was the AFL in 1970. Along with Joe Namath and the Jets beating the Colts in Super Bowl III, this merger created the greatest pro sports league in North American history. Other leagues have tried to compete with the giant that is the NFL, most notably the USFL, the original XFL, arena football, and even the CFL when they expanded to a few cities in the U.S. But, they all have failed. So to answer the question at hand, no, the XFL and AAF will not compete with the NFL as to which league is the better football league. Wh

Beat McAfee This Thursday (Dec. 6)

Image
MyBookie isn’t gonna like this… MyBookie has been doing challenges with Pat McAfee for quite some time now. From corn hole to basketball, interesting wagers have been available. Tomorrow, Thursday Dec. 6th there’s another opportunity to make some bread. Pat is going to be attempting to build an IKEA 3 drawer chest. Listening to McAfee on his podcast, seeing him on twitter, and watching him in his short time at Barstool can point you to a few locks on his journey of building this chest.   There is a grocery list of available wagers, but here are the ones that you are gonna want.   Will Pat successfully build the chest?  Yes: -150  No: +120 Pat Will absolutely build this chest, it may not be perfect, but you have to be an absolute moron to not be able to assemble some furniture. Yes -150 How many times will Pat say “Fuck” 0: +1000 1-10: +200 11-20: +300 21-30: +300 31-40: +400  41+: +500 Im liking the 11-20 range here.  I think he wil

A Call for Action: Legalize Lawn Jarts

Image
Just look at that picture. "Missile Game." It just warms me up thinking about playing our national pastime in the summer heat when it is cold as fuck outside right now. I'm aware some our younger readers might know what the hell I'm talking about, but I assure you that you will fall in love with this game by the end this blog. First things first, what is Jarts? So, essentially it's a game like cornhole or horseshoes. You toss the jarts across the court (your lawn or any surface where the jarts will sick in the ground) and try in to put them in little plastic rings that you put down. Very simple and easy but so satisfying when you get a ringer. A jart is pretty much a giant dart with metal tips. I guess you could see why the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission banned the production of this remarkable game in 1988 when the jart-related injuries started to pile up, but come on, they all involved kids with parents that obviously didn't care about their

Conference Championship Weekend Preview

Image
What's up y'all. Hope ya had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I also hope you didn't take our picks, because you would be in trouble with your bookie then, but that is in the past now. I have overcome that slump. Now, let's see what is happening in the 10 conference championship games happening Friday and Saturday. MAC Championship - Northern Illinois vs. Buffalo - Friday 7:00 PM In my opinion one of the most entertaining championship games to watch outside of the power five. Just two old ole midwest teams battling it out inside, as Bob Wojnowski would call it, "Ford's Field." Buffalo has been the favorite to win the MAC all year long while dominating almost every team they have played (shout-out to the boys down in Athens for whooping the Bulls 52-17). NIU has won the games they were supposed to this year, and that has gotten them to a MAC West championship, but can they knock off the Bulls? I don't think so. BUFFALO -3 is my pick here. PAC-12 Champ

Daily Lock Recap Nov. 15

We really couldn't have a better way to start off a big weekend than our Thursday Night picks.  As you all know, we have been on an abominable cold streak. Thursday morning, Thew had the idea to offer $5 to anyone who retweets our picks of the night if we didn't have a winning record.  Pick Recap: Nuke: Cal -12.5 Locy- Seahawks -3 Karch: Red Wings +1.5 Thew: Tampa Bay Lightning +1.5  Starting with Captain, I never know how to feel about a push, part of you is happy you didn't lose... but the other part is livid that you were so close to winning. Seahawks 27 Packers 24  Nuke's game got postponed... so not much to say about that.  Karch's Red Wings took care of business by only losing by one.  Wings are a strange team this year, in the beginning it seemed like they might not win a game all season.  Thew's take on the TB Lighting did more than he was looking for by taking down the often hated Pittsburgh Penguins.  Records:  Nuke: 1-

Daily Lock Recap: November 14, 2018

Can I even call this the "lock" recap? Holy shit, we cannot get any momentum going our way what so ever. I mean 2-4 is absolute garbage. Let's try to get through this without losing our cool, okay guys? Last Night's Picks: Let's lead off with the lone winner of the night, Nuke's Michigan +7 pick. It sure looked like the Michigan men's basketball team was on a little "revenge tour" of their own last night. The Wolverines went into the Pavilion and gave the defending champs, Villanova, a thorough beatdown, 73-46. John Beilein's team did not need any of the 7 points they were getting, as Nuke gets his first win and moves to 1-2. Next, Karch decided to take the OVER 144 in the UL-Monroe @ Michigan State game. The Spartans did not do him any favors in the first half, as Monroe was only down 35-29 at the break. The Spartans were firing on all cylinders in the 2nd, but ultimately it was too little, too late. MSU gets the win, 80-59, but couldn

Growing pains. That's the only way I can put it after tonight. That's life though, locks don't just throw themselves at you, you have to get down and dirty and look for them. We can and will do better. Pick Recap: Nuke: Western Michigan -8 Thew: Georgetown +8 Karch: LSU -10.5 The Captain: Hornets -8.5 Let's start with Karch. A heartbreaking loss for the kid as his LSU tigers won by 9 points. Those are the results that can keep you tossing and turning all night. Not easy to swallow. Karch dips to .500 as he goes to 1-1. Captain was way off tonight. Granted, no one saw this coming, but the Hornets got skullfucked by Cleveland 113-89. CLEVELAND! FUCKING CLEVELAND! The captain also goes to 1-1. On a better note, Thew's confidence in Patrick Ewing and the Hoyas paid off. Georgetown got 8, and they ended up winning by 8. Great pick by the Chaldean wonder himself. Very ballsy though, picking Georgetown going into a tough big ten road game. Thew remains undefea

Daily Lock Recap for Nov. 12 2018

First and foremost, I would like to take this moment to say how grateful and blessed I am to be with Las Vegas Lock Exchange and I cannot wait to see where this journey takes us. As I write my first piece on the site it is just four of us and I couldn't be happier with the promise we have shown as a group. Just four friends trying to build something great. That is what America is all about. Now to the picks. To recap        Captain Locy took OKC -9       Nuke had the Warriors -3       Karch believed in the Giants money line        I placed my faith in the Magic +8 Starting with the Captain, his OKC pick hit with points to spare. Luckily if you followed his bet you did not have to worry about it to much after the Thunder got off to a fast start lead by Paul George. PG-13 had 10 in the first quarter and finished with 32 on the night. The Thunder put together a 22-0 run in the first, just to show the ineptitude of the Suns. However, Phoenix did cut it to within 9 with

The Return of Locy's Locker Room: Week 10 in the NFL

Image
You read that correctly. Locy's Locker Room is back! After a 30 year hiatus, the column is making its triumphant return to the public eye. Now I'm aware not all of you guys were students of Albion College from '89-'92 that might have read my Dad's sports section in the school newspaper, but hell, I guarantee you there has been something missing in all our lives after my Dad stepped down from the game. Well that void is about to be filled. It's time to breakdown week 10 in the NFL. Pittsburgh Steelers 52 -  Carolina Panthers 21 What a freaking beatdown at Heinz Field. Wow. I did not expect Cam Newton and the Panthers to just lie down like that on Thursday night (I also bet the Panthers too). Their defense had no answer for Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, and the ever so dangerous Steeler attack. The Panthers dropped another game on the Saints in the NFC South and more and more, it's looking like their only way into the playoffs is through the wild c

The College Football NPI: Week 12

Image
To all of our distinguished readers out there, I'd like to introduce a new college football ranking index that blows the AP poll out of the water, the NPI. The Nuke Power Index, that is. Every week I'll be taking an advanced look at college football's top 10, and of course, betting suggestions for the upcoming week. My Top 10 After Week 11 1. Alabama No shock here. I could go in depth about the Tide's utter dominance, but let's not waste everyone's time. We knew Bama was a great team all year, but in the past two weeks they've proved it, shutting out solid LSU and Mississippi State teams with ease. Bama will have no problem rolling this weekend again when they play the Citadel. 2. Clemson The Tigers faced one of their biggest tests this weekend when they stormed into Chestnut Hill to battle AJ Dillon and Boston College. I like Clemson a lot, with their staggering D-line and athletic offense, but the schedule is a concern. The weak AC

Working Out the Kinks

Image
I had no idea what would be in store when I hatched the idea to start a gambling twitter account last Monday. All I wanted to do was just share my picks on the internet and maybe people would see them and be like "hey, this LVLE guy might know something." Since creating @LVLockExchange Tuesday, the corporation has doubled in size and now we have this beautiful blog. With all this unforeseen growth, all lot of good picks haven't been shared on the twitter account, and 90% of the picks on twitter have been mine (and most of them were pretty shitty). So, moving forward, each member of the team will give me one mortal lock a day from any sport they choose. Those 4 locks will then be tweeted out everyday. Then, each person can do whatever they want on their own blog here whether it be more picks or other fun posts. This way everyone gets their top of line picks out on twitter and we can have a tweet everyday. This should improve our record thus far, creating more winner s

Bad Day at the Office

Image
What a terrible day for me. I can't emphasize this enough. 1-3 on my picks? Really? You would've thought BC could've scored at least a point on offense, but no. Now to cap off the night, I have the pleasure watching my Cal/USC OVER pick die a slow death (at least I get to listen to my guy Quint Kessenich do some A+ work on the sideline). Here's the kicker though: I found my initial Saturday picks I made on Wednesday. ALL 4 OF THEM HIT AND I ONLY BET 1 OF THEM. Why I didn't look at these this morning will forever be a mystery. Last note, fuck the central time zone. 11 AM kickoffs are not my best friend. I am not going to bed tonight because I have to do my homework for our first NFL Sunday. Gotta get my shit together. Captain Locy

This is Las Vegas Lock Exchange

I have been around gambling my whole life. Ever since I was young my dad showed me the in and outs of everything there is to know about wagering money. From Texas hold'em, blackjack, and other card games to sports betting. Over the past few months, I've found myself with a lot of free time on my hands and I mostly spend this time watching sports (not that I didn't do that before) and becoming heavily involved with sports betting. Now, how did I make the correlation between watching sports and creating a blog about gambling? The answer is simple. I saw that something was missing in the sports betting world. There was no one on the web that made the connection between being funny and entertaining while also being serious about gambling. The team that makes up LVLE will be providing all you fantastic people on the internet with blogs about gambling and sports in general that will I know the average American will enjoy. The best part of this whole thing is that none of the st

Embrace Debate: AB v. Megatron

Image
During the Steelers game last night, someone I was watching with had an interesting question. If Antonio Brown and Calvin Johnson were the same age and played the same number of years for the Steelers, who would be better? Megatron had a good career but it was in a sense wasted on terrible lions teams. AB has been a crucial part to the Steelers offense.  Of course, this is all hypothetical so a definite answer isn't possible, but I’m sure you could find people on both sides. In the speed section, AB runs a 4.47 second 40. Megatron clocks in at 4.35 seconds. The idea that Megatron is .12 seconds faster than AB doesn't seem like much, until you consider their sizes. AB is 5’10” and Megatron is 6’5”.   We are in AB's 9th season and he has 790 receptions up to this point. In Johnson's 9 seasons he had 731 receptions. Although AB has more, I think Johnson has the advantage here too.  AB gets put in double coverage, a lot.  However, Johnson was almost always double

TNF Panthers @ Steelers Recap

Image
I'll be the first one to say it, bad pick tonight. As mentioned on twitter, one of of our senior advisors is being put on a leave of absence. You hate to see when a controversial pick loses when you let democracy take over. We will be putting it behind us and moving on to a big debut weekend of picks. At the end of the day, Big Ben and the Steelers put on a spectacle. Although it was a blowout, the game was fun to watch. Eric Reid made the mistake of hitting ben while he was sliding late in the third and Maurkice Pouncey was ready to take all the Panthers on at once. Takeaways: Never bet against prime-time Ben, The Panthers have 0 heart, and avoid pissing off Maurkice Pouncey at all costs.  Big redemption weekend coming up.

First day recap, Thursday preview

Image
On Las Vegas Lock Exchange's debut, our first lock hit.  The pick was the over some #MACTION where Kent St. faced off at Buffalo.  The o/u was 43.5 which was absurdly low for the MAC.  Many were concerned about the weather and extreme winds, however the over still hit with the Buffalo Bulls demolishing the Kent St Golden Flashes 48-14. This leaves LVLE with a perfect 1-0 record since conception.  Also on Tuesday, a pick not shared with twitter, the line for MSU v. Kansas in the Champions Classic was MSU+6.5. It didn't look good for the Spartans throughout most the game, but they found a way to make a game out of it at the end with MSU+6.5 hitting. Tonight we have the Steelers and the Panthers facing off in their Thursday Night Football, Color Rush game. There is quite a bit of friction within LVLE on this pick, however democracy ruled and we have the Panthers +3.5. There is no doubt that this will be an exciting game with Primetime Big Ben at home and Cam Newton's elect
